The new Formula 1 race track in Abu Dhabi is a complex of superlatives. At the first Grand Prix in November 2009 in Abu Dhabi racing fans were able to get a personal impression of the top modern race track.
Due to the close contact to the permanent planner for formula 1 race tracks, Butzbach was able to engage itself at an early preplanning stage of the "ABU DHABI Formula 1 Race Track" and finally received the order for 81 fibreglass doors in the pit lane area. The architects integrated the innovative Butzbach fibreglass into the overall concept right from the beginning.
Aside from the space-saving construction of the stacking doors, the owner was convinced by the high translucence of the fibreglass door elements. Due to the translucence of up to 78% a bright and light-flooded working area is created behind the door of the respective box, reducing the expenditures for lighting in daytime and creating a pleasant working atmosphere for each racing team. The fibreglass elements strew the light diffusely into the room – eliminating hard shadows and significantly reducing glare from the light incidence.
A further enormous advantage is the low maintenance cost for the door, since we refrain from using hinges, ropes and springs. All functional elements are protected and integrated in the tracks – there are no helix cables, no free hanging steel wire ropes and no open tracks (therefore no crushing or shearing edges). Thus, optimal protection is provided against injuries and damage.
Due to this unique reference project in the Middle East, Butzbach finally has access to the market.
