The sliding door for the A380 test rig
The company IMA in Dresden specialises in materials research and applications technology. Their most important project was the performance of a long-term fatigue test for the new Airbus A380. Because there was no suitable hall available at the Dresden Airport, a new testing hall had to be built. The location of the hall required a large door system with the dimensions of 40 x 20 metres made of translucent material that also was not allowed to reflect radar beams. An additional important decision criterion was the elegant shade Brilliant and the light-scattering properties of the door material.
A vertical door and a door system were installed in the sliding door for the through traffic of smaller vehicles and of people. Also, an additional five SPACELITE stacking doors are installed in the hall that are visually adapted to the large sliding door in terms of material and colour.
